Overview[]

May Turner was the daughter of William and Coralee Turner, who were cousins of Abraham Turner. They moved to Averno in 1703.

In 1739, May and her husband Charles took over the megachurch created by her father. This created a rift in the clergy as most of them didn't want a woman to be minister. May claimed that God had told her that the Church’s mission was to make sure every member was literate. She founded a school, the library and a publishing house.

In 1760, May's husband and twins daughters disappeared. The following year in 1761, unable to cope with the loss, May died by suicide.[1]
